Bridal Garter

The Royal Wedding is just a few weeks away! Here’s an easy tulle Bridal Garter project to make with your girlfriends. Use satin ribbon and tulle and embellish with pretty crystal buttons. You can also create this bridal garter to toss on your wedding day.

To make this Bridal Garter you will need the following materials:

Offray Double Face Satin Ribbon 3/8 Inch Wide, Light Pink

Offray Tulle, Pink

1/4 Inch Wide Elastic

Needle and Coordinating Thread

Scissors

Measuring Tape

To begin, cut four pieces of tulle to 2-1/4 inches wide by 2 yards long. Next, measure around your leg and cut the elastic to fit, leaving a 1/2 inch seam allowance.

Layer all four pieces of tulle on top of each other. Using a running stitch, gather the tulle lengthwise in the center. Stitch the gathered tulle to the elastic. Seam the ends together.

Bridal Garter Step 1

Use the satin ribbon to tie tiny bows and stitch them in the center so they hold their shape. Embellish the garter with the bows and buttons. You can also use small ribbon flowers.

Bridal Garter Step 3

We used a single color with crystal buttons but you can get creative and incorporate accent colors using ribbon and buttons in different colors. The great thing about making your own garter is being able to customize it. It is unique to you and you can also incorporate embellishments that have special meaning to you: a locket, buttons from and old suit, or something blue. You can also create a second garter to use for the toss so you can keep the one you are planning to wear.
