On Dancer, on Prancer…well you know the rest and what better way to celebrate the season than to decorate your dining table with this adorable Button Reindeer Table Runner. This Christmas DIY project is relatively easy but you should set aside about two hours to complete it.
Materials needed to create this Button Reindeer Table Runner:
La Mode Buttons: 400043676 (1 card); 200004544 (1 card); 200004367 (3 cards); 200004358 (2 cards)
Assorted Fabric: plaid (deer); natural (runner); assorted green print fabric (holly)
Needle with Thread (green or red)/ Scissors
Computer/Printer/Pencil
Iron-on Adhesive
Tip: For the non-sewer you can purchase a natural linen table runner and follow steps below (skip step 5).
Once you have your materials ready , follow these instructions:
Step 1: Find a deer silhouette image and print it out (enlarge to desired size). Cut it out for the pattern.
Step 2: Cut your table runner to desired size – for this project we used 13” wide by 72” long (add additional ½” for sewing). Iron your fabric to get any wrinkles out – plaid, assorted green and natural. Iron your adhesive to back of fabric (make sure to read instructions if you’re using this product for first time).
Step 3: Trace the deer pattern to your plaid fabric. Trace or free hand your holly leaves to green fabric (10 to 12 small leaves will work). Cut out the holly leaves. Refer to photo for placement ideas. Remove backing and iron onto fabric.
Step 4: Add assorted red and wine buttons for berries – refer to photo for placement ideas. If you purchased a pre-made table runner, be careful when you’re stitching your buttons onto the fabric, you want to make sure you get in between the fabric so your thread won’t show.
Step 5: Sew fabric together – for this project I used the same fabric for the back of the table runner – but you can select fabric to your liking.
Step 6: Add ribbon trim to bottom and additional buttons.
Now you are ready to set a beautiful holiday table with your Button Reindeer Table Runner!
HAPPY CRAFTING!
