Welcome your family and friends with this pretty Christmas Joy Button Pillow! Create this holiday pillow as a companion to our Christmas Button Pillow from last year. You can never have too many decorative pillows!
For the Christmas Joy Button Pillow, you will need the following materials:
Button Jars 540001006 and 540001009
Favorite Findings Red and Green Buttons 550001371
Fabric: Red Plaid, Green, Red
Gold and Red Beads
Offray Red Grosgrain and Green Satin Ribbon
Scissors, Needle and Thread, Zipper
Sewing Machine
Iron-on Adhesive
Pencil
Pillow form
Option: pillow pattern
Once you have your materials ready, follow these steps:
Step 1: Measure and cut fabric to desired size for this project. Our pillow form is 14” by 20”. Be sure to add 1” on all sides since you will be sewing and adding trim piping. Iron fabric. Add adhesive backing to plaid fabric (follow package instructions if this is your first time using iron-on adhesive backing).
Step 2: Find and print letters to use as a guide or use a stencil. Trace letters onto plaid fabric cut and iron onto “front” panel. Remember to leave space for “O” since this letter/space will be filled with buttons. Tip: you may want to trace the letter “O” onto the fabric for spacing and placement of buttons.
Step 3: If using a pattern, follow the directions. Finish pillow cover with red fabric as the front and green fabric as the back. Add trim and zipper.
Step 4: Now you are ready to embellish the plaid letters. Using needle and thread, add the gold and red beads around the J and Y letters.
Step 5: Using needle and thread, begin adding your red and green buttons. Recommend doing one layer of assorted sizes. Option – go back and fill space with additional buttons. Add grosgrain and satin bows as your final embellishment.
Display on your favorite chair or in the bedroom, on top of a holiday duvet. This Christmas Joy Button Pillow also makes a great Christmas gift!
