Who’s ready to start crafting for Valentine’s Day?! This sweet Heart Head Band uses mini buttons to accent felt hearts. We sewed them to a length of grosgrain ribbon. You can also use an existing head band and glue the hearts on once you’ve attached the buttons.
To make this Heart Head Band you will need the following materials:
Favorite Findings 1/4 Inch Mini White Buttons 550000445A
Felt, 2 Pieces Each of Red and Pink
Offray Grosgrain Ribbon, Pink, 1-1/4 Inch Wide
Sewing Needle
Pink and Red Embroidery Thread
Straight Pins
Paper
Scissors
To begin make a template for the hearts. Draw a heart approximately 1-3/4 inch by 1-7/8 inch on a piece of paper and cut it out. You can also find a heart online and print it out. Place the paper template onto the felt. Trace and cut out six red and six pink felt hearts.
Place two pink hearts on top of each other and pin in place. Sew the two hearts together with the pink thread. Continue with the other pink hearts so you have three finished hearts. Repeat these steps with the red felt hearts.
Cut the ribbon approximately to 46 inches long. Place the hearts onto the ribbon, alternating colors. Pin each heart on to the ribbon.
Use pink thread to sew on four buttons down the center of a pink heart. Use the red thread to sew on four white buttons down the center of a red heart. As you sew on the buttons, sew through the felt to attach the hearts to the ribbon.
Finish sewing the buttons on to all the remaining hearts.
When you are ready to wear your Heart Head Band, tie the ribbon ends under your hair at the nape of your neck. Alternatively, you could sew a small piece of elastic to the ends of the ribbon. Just measure your head before you cut off the extra length of the ribbon.
Happy Crafting!!
