If you’re following my blog I mentioned yesterday that I would be posting our designers from Quilt Market that we featured at the Houston Quilt Show this past weekend.
Today I introduce you to Lori Ray who created these adorable “postquilts” – but first about Lori…
“I have been sewing since I was six years old. My mother was our local home ec teacher so she taught me well! I ran out of room for quilts and wall hangings. Found out about Etsy and started making postcards and small art quilts. I’m 59 years young with a husband, two grown children, a two and a half year old granddaughter, a two month old grandson, dogs, cats, fish all on ten acres in the country. I’m kept very busy”! Lori designs and sews quilted fabric postcards and art card “quilts”. She also has a shop which features greeting cards from her original postcards. Her art quilts which I found interesting can also be turned into a “postcard” mailed with a standard stamp – hense the name postquilts! Or if you’d like you can have a fabric backing and completed with a hanger – for hanging!
Lori was a pleasure to work with – “custom order” not a problem. Check out thesw special post quilts she created for us…BUTTONS CRAFT CREATE QUILT SEW KNIT CROCHET STITCH
I saw her post quilts on Etsy and knew I can have fun with these and using our Favorite Findings. The above quilts were custom made for us and Lori embellished them with Favorite Findings Big Bag of Buttons #550002006 Flowers. For the flower quilts I embellished thenm with the mini Favorite Findings and yes you could have sewn them on but I opted to glue. Placed them in a frame and ready to show…
Along with these two quilts Lori sent me a new post quilt she created and I went to town with this. I posted this on October 14, 2015 where I featured dying your own buttons – check it out!
I want to THANK Lori, for creating such adorable quilts and sharing with us her talent! here are several pieces that are currently available on her Etsy site…
