In addition you’ll need:
Styrofoam™ by Flora Craft – 1 – 3 7/8″ x 8 7/8″ Cone
1 – 2 7/8″ x 5 7/8″ Cone
Seed Beads
Black Boa Fur
Quilting Pins – Black and Purple
Wire
Black Paint & Paint Brush
Napkins
Okay, once your ready – prepare your work area – since you’re working with paint you don’t want to splatter everything. The reason for painting the cones is so that you won’t have to layer so many buttons onto the cone – having a green background will show through.
Paint both cones black – I left mine to dry overnight (however an hour is good).
Once dry, begin wrapping your black boa fur around the base of the cones. secure with pins. Begin adding buttons – you can layer as you go along. As you can see from the photo I started with larger buttons on the bottom and mid way I gradually started using smaller buttons…
Use the photos for reference – as you can see I used as many as three to a stack…have fun with it!
Keep going until you’ve reached the top. Repeat the same procedures with the smaller cone…
Okay we’re ready to add the button bats…locate your wire you will need nine pieces of wire no longer 8″ long. Form a u-shape, add two seed beads and then insert wire through the “eye” holes. Twist wire all the way down and repeat to the other 8 pieces…
begin inserting the bats (refer to photo for placement). Six bats for the large button tree and 3 for the smaller button tree.
This makes such a great centerpiece for your party table or decorations for your office desk!
We’d love to see your creations – why not share them with us on our Facebook page for all to see.
Happy Halloween – Happy Crafting!
