Simply Leaves Button Wreath

With Halloween now just a memory (yes, I know it was only been a week). But it’s funny how everything is passing by so quickly, chalk it up to age. Leaves have turned from their beautiful vibrant colors to muted browns and before you know it we’ll be hearing Christmas songs on the radio. But before this happens we need to prepare for the best time of the year – Thanksgiving!

Burlap 2 colors: 2 1/2″ roll and 1 1/2″ roll

burlap
Needle and cotton thread
Scissors
Faux acorns
Feathers
Head pins
Hot Glue Gun

To begin your Simply Leaves Button Wreath – wrap the burlap ribbon around your wreath – to make it easier for you, using your head pins secure the end to the wreath and begin wrapping all the way around until you’ve come full circle. As you can see from the photo below your burlap should overlap. Secure with your head pins (as shown in photo).

Remember when adding the second burlap ribbon you will space this out a bit further. Secure with pins. Next step flowers…

Creating your burlap flowers for your Simply Leaves Button Wreath: you will cut approximately 1 – 12″(or longer) ; 1 – 9″; strip in the dark burlap and 1 – 9″ in the lighter shade. Fold ribbon in half – knot your cotton thread at end and create a straight stitch across the bottom.

once you’ve come to the end of the strip – gently begin pulling/gathering/bunching the thread to begin forming a flower. Stitch to complete. You can create as many flowers as you wish – for this project I only created 3.
