Meet Darlene McKnight…

Well finally my last shipment from Quilt Market came back – YEAH! I was waiting anxiously for the 3 Button Flower Panels to come in so that we can shoot them for my blog.  This was a long project in the making! However we love them and were a hit at Quilt Market.

I’d like to thank Darlene McKnight for working along with me in getting the flower vision created.

I had the pleasure of meeting Darlene at CHA two years or so ago – wonderful woman and talented! I approached Darlene with my idea of creating these life size flowers that I wanted to feature as my focal point for our booth…wasn’t sure how this was going to work since Darlene lives in California and I in New Jersey! But as you can see it work out well – Thank God for technology…again THANK YOU!

Darlene is a award winning stitcher/quilter and has had a needle in hand for over 50 years (some are born with a rattle in their hand she with a needle!).  Her grandmother and mother encouraged her creativity – “thinking outside the box” seemed a normal way to stitch and create. Over the years Darlene has taken many workshops to improve her craft and several teachers stand out: Jane Nicholas, Drothery Lesher, Carol Algie, as well as Catherine Jordan and Laura Smith. Plus nationally known quilter Darlene Zimmerman.  Darlene is a member of Baldy View Chapter, Ontario, CA of the Embroidery Guild of America as weill as member and secretary of Sunkissed Stitichers Chapter of the American Needlepoint Guild.

The quilts were created using our Favorite Findings Colors and assorted Favorite Findings styles which are available in your favorite fabric and craft store.

So now I put the Quilt Market to rest and concentrate on CHA 2013 – with no time to spare!

HAPPY CRAFTING/HAPPY QUILTING
