Mother’s Day Button Gift Ideas…

As we all know Mother’s Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May – so are you seriously going to wait till the last minute to make her something? Why not start earlier – like today…Two button gift ideas in one – yes I did just type that and no it really doesn’t take that much time (although she doesn’t need to know that). And she’ll love them – as she’s always loved everything you created for her – because you created them just for her (okay maybe you can borrow the earrings).

md20Today you’ll be creating a Vintage Button Greeting Card Broach/Pin and Vintage Button Earrings. The embellished button card actually is a Button pin that she’ll be able to wear. So let’s get started…

Materials:
Card:Favorite Findings – Timeless Treasures #550001567 (1)
Blank greeting card stock/assorted scrapbook paper (to coordinate with cameo)
Rhinestone trim/pin back finding/decorative metal finding
scissors/glue/ribbon/brown ink pad with brush

Earrings: Favorite Findings – Timeless Treasures #550001567 (2)
Favorite Findings – Precious Memories #550001564 (2)
French wire earring findings/(2) pin heads/freshwater pearls white and grey)
glue adhesive/round nose pliers

let’s get started with the card: measure and cut your scrapbook paper to the size of blank card. Adhere to card.  With you brown ink pad and brush – age your edges of card and lightly swirling over entire card.

Add ribbon and lace trim as shown on card set aside.

To create your Vintage Broach/Pin:  grab your decorative metal findings (found in the jewelry aisle), rhinestone trim and cameo.  Adhere glue to finding place Favorite Finding cameo onto finding and add trim – cut excess trim if necessary. (I used epoxy and let set overnight)

Carefully attach the pin to the card.  Make sure to attach a blank card stock to the inside of card to cover the trim overlay. Don’t forget to write something sweet inside!

Now for your (I mean her) earrings: for this project I used the one of the components from each Favorite Findings  group:  metal finding in the FF Timeless Treasures #550001567 and the white rosette from the FF Precious Memories #550001564.

I know the above photo shows the turquoise flower (but I did end up using the white as shown in the original photo  – either flower would work well).

Slide your pearls onto the pin head –  you will create a loop so this hangs from the metal finding – wrap your wire around the neck and cut off excess with wire cutters or if you have our Favorite Findings Button Shank Remover this too would work.  Adhere glue to the back of the rosette and onto the metal finding let set. Add French wire findings and your done!

How much sweeter is this gift that you created!
