Thanksgiving Place Settings

Here we are, just one week away from Thanksgiving! While you are busy planning the dishes for your big meal and making your shopping lists, don’t forget to plan for some decorations for your Thanksgiving table. We created some simple ways to dress-up Thanksgiving Place Settings with buttons and grosgrain ribbon.

For this first setting,we used the brooches we created from the Felt Buttons a few weeks ago. Just cut a piece of coordinating grosgrain ribbon, wrap it around the napkin and secure with the pin on the back of the brooch. It’s so easy and your guests can keep the brooch as a favor.

For the green napkins, we layered buttons from the Etcetera Value Pack using embroidery thread and then sewed them onto some ribbon. With all the variety of button colors and sizes in the value pack, you can create a different look for each place setting.

We found wired ribbon in a pretty fall plaid and layered some of the Falling Leaves Buttons using embroidery thread. Here’s a shortcut using the wired ribbon: you can just wrap a piece of ribbon around the napkin and hide the ends underneath. You don’t need to tie a fancy bow!

If you have patterned napkins, try using simple buttons, like the Wood Simply Leaves. These buttons already have etched details so we decided to keep them unpainted and sewed them onto different widths of grosgrain ribbon. But you can also paint them with acrylic paint to coordinate with your table decorations. Just be sure to give yourself enough time for the paint to dry before you need to sew them onto the ribbon.

And if your guests are arriving before Thanksgiving Day, get them in on some crafting fun. That’s one less thing you have to do!
